“Apple Working On Foldable IPhone As Sales Struggle”
Apple is working on foldable devices, including a bendy iPhone with a larger screen than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. They’re also planning a new gadget designed to act like a laptop, featuring a 19-inch foldable screen. Additionally, Apple is creating a slimmer iPhone with a simpler camera that will be more affordable than the Pro models. These new products could launch as early as 2026.
Apple will compete with companies like Samsung, which already offers foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold. However, Samsung’s new Fold 6 model didn’t sell as well as expected.
The foldable phone market grew 49% in the first quarter, with Motorola and Huawei entering the scene. Huawei even became the top seller of foldables in May.
After two years of declining sales, global smartphone sales are now recovering, especially with cheaper models and new devices featuring AI technology. Apple’s iPhone sales also increased recently, driven by genAI updates, though early sales of the AI-powered iPhone 16 were lower than expected. Apple may be using new devices like foldables to attract more customers and offer more variety.
By offering different designs and price points, Apple hopes to attract customers who haven’t upgraded in a while and Android users looking for something familiar. This strategy worked before when Apple introduced larger iPhones in 2014, which sold millions.
