“Apollo Cancer Centre Launches LungLife Screening”

Apollo Cancer Centres has introduced India’s first LungLife Screening Programme to help detect lung cancer early. Lung cancer is responsible for a large number of cancer deaths in India, and this programme aims to improve survival rates by spotting the disease before symptoms appear.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, with around 1.8 million deaths in 2020. The LungLife Screening Programme targets people aged 50-80, especially those with a history of smoking or a family history of lung cancer. Early detection through low-dose CT scans can help catch lung cancer at an early stage, increasing the chances of successful treatment.

Dr. Nikhil Modi, Senior Consultant – Pulmonology at Apollo Cancer Centre, emphasized that early detection is key to saving lives. The use of low-dose CT scans reduces radiation while offering precise results, making it a valuable tool for individuals at high risk of lung cancer.

The programme hopes to raise awareness and encourage more high-risk individuals to undergo screening, which could ultimately lead to better treatment outcomes and improved survival.
