US President-elect Donald Trump has once again suggested making Canada the 51st state following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation on Monday. After facing pressure over his declining popularity, Trudeau stepped down, leaving office until his party elects a new leader.
Trump, who has often criticized Trudeau, renewed his proposal on social media, claiming Canada would benefit from joining the US with no tariffs, lower taxes, and greater security. However, his offer has received little response from Canada.
Trump also threatened tariffs on Canadian imports, accusing the country of exploiting the US in trade practices and challenging them to address illicit drugs and illegal migration.
