A major cyber attack hit on a global level on Friday affecting more than 1,25,000 computer systems. ‘Malwaretech’ which is a UK security researcher predicts that the attack could happen again on Tuesday.
The virus took a global toll in many countries like Spain, France and Russia is said to have affected over 100 countries.
Many health services were affected badly by the virus as hospitals were forced to cancel surgeries and appointments.
The virus also displayed message of a payment of $300 in virtual currency Bitcoin to unlock user files.
Malwaretech, the hero in this scenario, initially used to track the virus ending up halting it.
The current version of the virus was stop able but soon there will another coming in and it won’t be stoppable. Since they have understood the drawbacks of this one, another one will be stronger than before.
Technology does make our lives simple but complicates it at the same time. There are advancements made for our betterment but on the flip side we have to bear the brunt as well.
Barring sporadic incidents in a few states, most institutions and industries across India continue to remain insulated from the effects of the ‘WannaCry’ ransomware cyberattack+ that has affected computers in approximately 100 countries worldwide.
Banks, government departments and corporate houses have issued messages of caution and reinforced online security. However, business was unaffected as markets and offices opened on Monday after a weekend during which ripple effects of the malware were witnessed across the globe.
