“Team India Warned About Perth Pitch: ‘It Can Be Terrifying'”

Australia batter Travis Head has shared his views about the pitch at Optus Stadium in Perth, the venue for the first Test against India, starting this Friday.

Perth has had heavy rain leading up to the match, which affected pitch preparation. Despite this, the head curator of the stadium said that pacers will get extra pace and bounce, easing concerns about cracks in the pitch.

Head, who enjoys batting in Perth, mentioned that the pitch can be challenging, especially in the last two days, calling some areas of it “terrifying.” He said, “There are parts of this wicket that can be terrifying. Depending on how the pitch plays on days three, four, and five, it can be challenging.”

He also shared his training experience for bouncy pitches, revealing that during the last Ashes series in England, he trained using yellow balls. This was to prepare for the short balls he expected to face, saying, “I faced yellow balls because I knew they were going to bowl me short balls.”

Head also joked about training without his pads during the Ashes, adding, “It’s not enjoyable to train, but I want to train for it.”
