Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a tough loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) in an IPL 2025 match, which went into a Super Over for the first time this season. RR chased 189 runs but fell short with 188/4 in 20 overs, and DC won the Super Over in just four balls.
In the Super Over, RR sent Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag to bat, who only managed to score 11/2 against Mitchell Starc’s brilliant bowling. Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth criticized RR’s decision, saying they should have sent Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana instead, as both had been in good form during the chase.
Srikkanth called the decision “terrible” and added, “It was literally a walkover for DC!” He also emphasized that “catches win matches,” pointing to RR’s struggles in the field.
RR’s captain, Sanju Samson, praised the team’s bowlers but admitted that the loss was disappointing. He credited DC’s Mitchell Starc for taking the game away from them in the final overs.
