The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others over derogatory and racist remarks made on India’s Got Latent. The content creators, including Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, along with the show’s producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, are facing backlash. NCW has called for a hearing on February 17, 2025, in New Delhi.
After heavy criticism from netizens, politicians, and celebrities, the controversial episode was removed from YouTube. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also directed YouTube to take it down over complaints about offensive content.
Following online outrage, Ranveer posted an apology video on X, calling the joke a lapse in judgment. He admitted that comedy is not his forte. However, Samay Raina and Apoorva Makhija have not responded yet.
During the episode, Ranveer asked an inappropriate question to a contestant, sparking a huge backlash. Many called for action against the YouTubers, arguing that such content negatively impacts young audiences.
