Trump Slams Harvard: ‘Should Be Taxed’

Former US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized Harvard University. He warned that the university could lose its tax-exempt status if it continues to promote what he called “political, ideological, and terrorist-inspired sickness.”

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, “Perhaps Harvard should lose its Tax Exempt Status and be taxed as a political group. Tax exemptions are only for those working in the public interest.”

This statement came after the US government froze $2.2 billion in federal funding for Harvard. The move followed the university’s refusal to follow a list of government demands aimed at reducing campus activism, especially related to anti-Semitism.

The Trump administration also asked Harvard to:

• Change how it is run
• Review hiring and admissions processes
• Close diversity offices
• Work with immigration authorities to screen international students

In response, Harvard’s president, Alan Garber, said the university would stand firm. He told students and staff that Harvard would not give up its independence or its constitutional rights.

Trump’s Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism confirmed the freeze on $2.2 billion in grants and another $60 million in government contracts.
