Tahir Hussain, accused in the Delhi riots case, was released from Tihar jail on Thursday morning to file his nomination for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The Delhi High Court granted him custody parole for this purpose.
Under heavy police security, Hussain left the jail around 9:15 AM. The former AAP councillor is now contesting from the Mustafabad constituency, representing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), for the February 5 polls.
The riots in northeast Delhi in February 2020 led to 53 deaths and many injuries, with Hussain facing charges related to the violence.
