Rahul Gandhi’s Bold Take on Congress’ Bank Account Blockade

In a recent address in Virginia, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, shared a tough moment from the Congress party’s campaign. With general elections just three months away, Gandhi revealed that the party’s bank accounts were frozen, leaving them strapped for cash.

“We had no funds for transport or advertising,” Gandhi said. “I told Mallikarjun Kharge and the treasurer, ‘dekhi jayegi’—we’ll see what happens. That was our fighting spirit.”

Gandhi, who has faced elections since 2004, described this as a first-time experience. He emphasized that the real battle is not just political but about upholding the diverse traditions and languages of India against divisive ideologies.

He criticized the ruling BJP and PM Modi for spreading fear and pressure, which, according to him, quickly dissipated after the recent Lok Sabha results.

Gandhi, currently in Washington, also engaged with students at Georgetown University before heading back to Delhi.
