Three infiltrators were likely killed in two separate operations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, the Indian Army reported. One was believed killed in Tangdhar, and two others were shot down in the Machhal sector.
Two operations were launched in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors on the night of August 28-29, 2024, based on intelligence reports of possible infiltration. In Tangdhar, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police led to the likely neutralization of one terrorist. In Machhal, security forces fired on suspicious movement in bad weather, reportedly killing two terrorists.
A search operation is also ongoing in the Rajouri district following gunfire exchange between terrorists and security forces. The operation began late Wednesday in the Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal areas, with contact made around 11:45 pm.
These incidents occur as Jammu and Kashmir prepares for assembly elections, set for September 18, 25, and October 1, with results on October 4.
