The Supreme Court has begun hearings on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in the excise policy case. The Delhi High Court recently extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody until September 11.
Kejriwal’s lawyer, A M Singhvi, argued that Kejriwal was not named in the CBI FIR but was called as a witness. Singhvi stressed that Kejriwal is not a threat in the case and is seeking regular bail. The CBI’s recent application to interrogate Kejriwal followed a new statement recorded in January.
