The 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections began on November 13 with 29.31% voter turnout across 43 constituencies by 11 AM. The highest turnout was recorded in Khunti at 34.12%, followed by Gumla and Lohardaga. 950 sensitive polling booths have been set up with tight security measures. A total of 638 candidates, including 73 women, are competing in the first phase.
The ruling JMM promises 33% women’s reservation in jobs, while BJP-led NDA vows to implement a Uniform Civil Code and drive out infiltrators. The Congress offers 250 units of free electricity and a caste-based census. The second phase of voting will take place on November 20.
