Israel used US-made 900-kg bombs in an airstrike that killed top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, according to Reuters. The bombs, known as Mark 84 series bunker-busters, were guided weapons. US Senator Mark Kelly confirmed that these bombs were provided by the US and used by Israel in the strike.
The airstrike was part of intensified Israeli attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, killing several Hezbollah commanders. Following Nasrallah’s death, the group also confirmed the killing of Nabil Kaouk and other senior members.
While the US supplies arms to Israel, the White House stated it was not warned about the airstrike beforehand.
