Delhi: Over 100mm Rain Recorded Overnight, Yellow Alert Issued”

Delhi experienced heavy rainfall overnight, with several weather stations recording over 100mm of rain until Thursday morning. This downpour was due to thunderclouds over the NCR on Wednesday evening. The initial intense rainfall caused significant waterlogging, disrupting traffic and air travel. Though the rain’s intensity decreased after 8:30 pm, it continued until about 2:30 am.

Vehicles were stranded on a flooded highway near Mayur Vihar Phase-2. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rain for the rest of Thursday, with a yellow alert in place.

The heaviest rain occurred between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm on Wednesday. The Delhi Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid Rohtak Road due to heavy waterlogging and potholes.
