On Wednesday, thick fog in Delhi and surrounding areas caused low visibility, affecting travel across the city. Over 100 flights were delayed at Indira Gandhi International Airport due to poor visibility, though no flights were canceled or diverted. The airport issued an advisory, warning passengers that flights not equipped with the CAT III system could face delays. CAT III helps planes operate in low visibility. IndiGo also warned passengers of possible delays due to the weather.
In addition to flight delays, 26 trains were affected by the dense fog. The India Meteorological Department forecast light rain or drizzle, with temperatures ranging from 9°C to 19°C. The fog was also visible on the roads, especially in areas like Dhaula Kuan and India Gate.
The fog is expected to continue, with shallow fog or smog predicted for the evening and night. Nearby regions like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan are also likely to experience dense fog over the next few days.
