Champai Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a key Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, will officially join the BJP on Friday, August 30. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed this on X (formerly Twitter), calling Soren a “distinguished adivasi leader.”
Soren, who recently stepped down as Chief Minister for Hemant Soren, had criticized his party and hinted at new political ventures. He has expressed a commitment to continue working for Jharkhand’s development and might consider starting a new party.
Known as the “Jharkhand Tiger” for his role in creating Jharkhand, Soren’s move to the BJP is expected to strengthen the party.
