“Karan Johar Hails Adar Poonawalla as ‘Dear Family Friend'”

Adar Poonawalla, the billionaire businessman behind Serene Productions, recently made a huge move by investing ₹10 billion in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, shaking up the Bollywood industry. In an interview with CNBC TV18, Karan shared how the deal came about, describing Adar as a long-time friend and the perfect partner for his creative vision.

Karan said, “It was an easy decision for us. Adar’s business insight and support for my creative freedom made this a great partnership. It’s the best fit for where we want to take Dharma Productions.”

He also mentioned that the decision to sell stakes was driven by his vision to expand Dharma into new areas like distribution networks and a music label. Despite being a relatively new studio, Dharma has already made an impact in the industry with films like Kurbaan, Wake Up Sid, and I Hate Luv Storys.
