Another documentary about Matthew Perry’s tragic passing is on the way. Peacock has announced Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, which will reveal new details about the Friends star’s unexpected death in October 2023 due to acute ketamine toxicity. It will also cover the ongoing criminal investigation, where five people have been charged.
The documentary’s first trailer begins with a 911 call about a drowning, followed by reactions from people shocked by Perry’s passing at age 54. It features interviews with Morgan Fairchild, who played his mother on Friends, and U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada, who is leading the case. Estrada shares that three people have pleaded guilty, while two more are set to stand trial on March 4, 2025.
Perry was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home’s hot tub. Initially, there were no signs of foul play, but the December autopsy report changed everything, confirming ketamine was in his system. Experts in the documentary suggest there is more to the story than originally believed.
This isn’t the first documentary on Perry’s death. Hulu released What Happened to Matthew Perry?,
