It’s been five years since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated film Inshallah was shelved, but the curiosity around the project remains strong. Initially announced in 2019, the film was set to feature Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan in a romantic story. However, due to creative differences between Bhansali and Salman, the project was put on hold indefinitely.
Recently, while promoting her new film Jigra, Alia Bhatt opened up about Inshallah. In an interview, she confirmed that it was indeed a love story between her character and Salman Khan’s. When asked about the current status of the movie, Alia shared that there is no update to her knowledge but expressed hope that Bhansali will make the film someday. “It’s a wonderful story,” Alia said, praising the script.
During the interview, Alia was asked about the reports that Salman’s character in the film was supposed to be an ‘adhed businessman’ (middle-aged businessman), to which she responded with an awkward laugh, saying she wouldn’t comment on that. She described the film as a “lovely love story” and said she trusts Bhansali to make the best decisions for the movie.
Inshallah was a highly anticipated project due to Bhansali’s previous successes with both actors, and fans were excited to see the unique pairing of Alia and Salman. While there is no official confirmation if the movie will ever be revived, Alia remains hopeful.
In the meantime, Bhansali and Alia are working together on another project titled Love and War, keeping the collaboration between the actress and director alive.
