BJP leader Tarun Chugh has strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the recent violence in Murshidabad. The violence happened during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, which led to the death of three people.
Chugh compared Mamata Banerjee to Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. He said that Mamata’s actions reminded him of the Muslim League from the 1940s. “What Jinnah did back then is what Mamata is doing now. Her image has become that of a modern Jinnah,” Chugh told ANI.
He also slammed Mamata Banerjee for staying silent after the deaths. “It’s shameful that she hasn’t said a word even after three people were killed. The safety of Hindus is being ignored just for minority appeasement,” he added.
So far, over 150 people have been arrested in connection with the violence. To control the situation, the West Bengal Police have sent more forces to areas like Samserganj and Dhuliyan. The Union Home Ministry has also sent five BSF companies to support the state government.
