“Best Places to Enjoy Fall Colors”

Fall in Grand Teton offers stunning colors and active wildlife. Peak foliage typically happens from mid-September to mid-October. For the latest conditions, check the SeeJH webcams. Remember, bears are active, so always carry bear spray and follow precautions.

Top Spots for Fall Colors

  • Oxbow Bend: Perfect for scenic views and photography.
  • Snake River Overlook: Vibrant golden aspens.
  • Moose-Wilson Road: Red-black hawthorn leaves and cottonwoods.

Elk and moose are in their mating season (“rut”), and you may hear elk bugles early morning or evening.

Recommended Hikes

  • Phelps Lake Overlook: 2 miles.
  • Taggart Lake-Bradley Lake Loop: 5.6 miles.
  • Lakeshore Trail: 2.2 miles with Teton views.

Outside the park, take the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram or Snow King Gondola for stunning views. Drive over Teton Pass for a scenic adventure to Grand Targhee Resort.
