Amid rising concerns about Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) after two cases were reported in Karnataka, states across India have issued safety guidelines. HMPV is a respiratory virus that mainly affects children, the elderly, and those with serious health issues.
While India hasn’t seen a surge in cases, extra precautions are advised, especially during winter and early spring when the virus is most active.
✅ Cover your mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing.
✅ Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer.
✅ Avoid crowded places if you’re unwell.
✅ Stay hydrated and well-rested.
✅ Stay home if you have symptoms like fever or cough.
❌ Reusing tissues or handkerchiefs.
❌ Close contact with sick individuals.
❌ Touching your face frequently.
❌ Spitting in public.
Important: No vaccine or antiviral treatment exists for HMPV yet. Follow safety measures to protect yourself and your loved ones.
