Few things captivate me like the rugged landscapes and history of the Wild West. Here are some highlights from my adventures in these historic mining states:
Spectacular setting with remnants of copper, silver, and uranium mining. Check out the old timber and rail ore bin still standing. A true adventure getting there!
Perched on the Grand Canyon’s rim, discovered in 1890. Mule trains hauled copper ore through extreme conditions. The view from the mine portal is breathtaking!
A ghost town near the Superstition Mountains, once a bustling mining camp. The scenery here is unforgettable!
Desolate and stunning, home to North America’s lowest point and the hottest temperature ever recorded. Borax mining and 20-mule teams crossed this harsh desert. Truly a tough frontier.
A Cold War uranium boom site. Charles Steen, a flamboyant character, discovered it. Found a handgun on our visit—could’ve been ours if unclaimed! Who else explores these remote areas?
The quintessential Wild West town, famous for its silver mines. Explore the underground, see hand-mined tunnels, and remnants of Cold War bomb shelters. A must-visit for history buffs!
