SC Tells Women Officers To Go To Tribunal for Captain Rank.

The Supreme Court has directed women officers in the Indian Navy with short service commissions to approach the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) for their promotion to the captain rank. The court stated that issues like benchmark criteria, seniority, and confidential reports need detailed consideration by the AFT. .

The court emphasized that the promotion process requires an in-depth evaluation of individual cases. The ruling follows the March 2020 verdict, which also paved the way for gender equality in the armed forces.
