Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up about how his role in Devdas (2002) influenced his life. The actor, who played an alcoholic in the film, admitted he started drinking after shooting for the movie. While it helped him professionally, earning him the Best Actor award, he mentioned that it took a toll on his health.
Shah Rukh explained his approach to the character, saying he didn’t want people to love, hate, or even like Devdas, but rather make him feel indescribable.
Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starred Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit alongside Shah Rukh. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and became a huge hit, earning nearly ₹100 crore globally.
Shah Rukh’s next film, King, is set to release on Eid 2026, where he will share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan.
